If there is one thing that I could marvel at for days, it’s Italian fashion. I have always loved Italian trends and styles, but I never understood the concept behind them until I came to Rome. It all boils down to one simple concept,
“la bella figura.” The saying means for everyone to always present themselves in the best way possible. Whether it just be running out to the grocery market, or going out for a fine dining experience you must always remember “la bella figura.”
The famous Italian designer Miuccia Prada once said, “What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language.”
In my short time here in Italy I have realized that fashion is not just Manolo’s and Fendi, but a a lifestyle choice. Italian fashion doesn’t have to be so serious, but mixing and matching of styles and trends. It is how people communicate to the world who they are and that is what makes Italian fashion so innovative and stylish.
So, goodbye leggings and yoga pants and hello to a new kind of self expression. One that shows who you are as a person and how you want to appear to the world. So, what do you want to communicate to the world? Bellissima!
